At Macomber Karate, we are dedicated to assisting parents guide children to their goals. Regardless of a child's athletic aptitude, the martial arts teaches kids that, through their own effort (plus a good helping of positive reinforcement), they can become everything they want to be.

We are also focused on helping our young students to be helpful, productive members of society -- themes reinforced in each class through respectful partner interaction. Parents play a role in ranking examinations, as students must demonstrate that they have been respectful both at home and at school in order to advance from one belt to the next.

It is through this understanding of the benefits of self-discipline that our kids develop increased self-esteem -- and it is that self-esteem that is the child's best weapon against conflict: calm in the face of a bully, a child can reason his or her way out of bad situations, or have the confidence to walk away from the situation without fear of ridicule.
